She muses:

I don't say I ever wish him dead,

but sometimes I wish we never wed,

that I married someone nice instead;

but no doubt at times he thinks the same,

and it's just the nature of the game,

and one only has oneself to blame.

And then sometimes I think, and it is a help,

that at least I wasn't left upon the shelf.
