NOTE.
Genuinely abhorred by the violence in the world, the very least we can do is not to add to the violence, to refrain from being violent ourselves.
The aim of these pieces, designated 'psalms',
is to show how we can rid ourselves of violence, of our own violence, by the simple means of espousing gentleness, to show how gentleness and happiness and, indeed, godliness go hand in hand.
Who cares what your religion is, what your philosophy is, if you are not gentle and kind? If you are not gentle and kind, you bring disgrace upon all that you profess. Any child knows this. Why complicate morality?
These pieces also propose the following argument.
However much it has been discredited, the religious tendency has been a salient feature of human history. We have our being in life and, if we must have a god, it should be Life itself, the most real of gods, the Living God, that in which we are immersed. We cannot escape it, not even in death, for our every atom is alive with it.
The totality of life is a constant. No life is ever lost and no life was ever created. Life is eternal and eternal life is the only life that there is. Let us not be cheated of the peace and goodness that comes with embracing our rightful role in the totality that is life.
As a drop of life in a sea of life,
that is how and where to live, for ever.
