So natural at what he did. That voice!

A great favourite with the listeners

and loved too by those who knew him.

So funny, so kind, so knowledgeable,

and really just a truly lovely man.

Such adulation! Such universal warmth!

Such nice nonsense! Such teary-eyed tripe!

I personally did not like the fellow.

No! I never met the man in person

but didn't I hear him often enough.

Well, you know, he was just a bit,

a bit too full of it, a bit too smart,

all suave and shiny and scintillating,

but, if you ask me, somewhat suspect.

No! I can't say exactly, but that sort,

well, he'd be inclined to get up your nose.

I've no wish to speak ill of the dead,

but, frankly, he'd muck up your head.

Here's to him! He'll be quiet now at least.
