Case AG.
(Evidently a variant of spiritual grandiosity where the subject does not think himself to be God but only that God, infatuated, acts as his personal avenger, sometimes rashly so. Often attributed to an over zealous reading of the Psalms.
Quite harmless. )
Beware!
Sneer as you might,
I judge it only right to warn you,
strictly for your sake,
for your sake only,
that you should not in any way
presume to persecute,
torment or otherwise molest
this favourite, this beloved
of a god —yes, that God!—
a god who has proved most sensitive
to any threat to my poor person.
Whatever my own feelings,
however eager to forgive,
all those who so offend
are yet ever made to suffer
and, indeed, always overly so,
the response often seeming,
dare I say, insanely harsh
to these my own soft mortal eyes.
I mean, for instance, in all justice,
what have their children done?
No. I cannot be held to blame.
Who am I to restrain that wrath,
to question the expression of that love?
I can but caution you, solemnly.
When it comes to this my humble self,
this helpless object of divine passion,
any slight can ignite that anger
and the behaviour which there ensues
can, I fear, nigh verge on madness,
being so blind, so dangerous.
There! Stare in bemused perplexity.
Distort your face in high disgust.
Enough! I have thus exposed myself
that you might be somehow spared.
At least I have shown some mercy.
