She Sees Her Fate, Everywhere.

What a foolish girl I am,

left tricked and trifled,

besmeared with jam.

                        Anon.

Indeed, she sees it,

this spectacular sunrise,

with its bright show of golden clouds,

all triumphant and magificent

like a glimpse of paradise itself,

only short of angels and trumpets,

but lasting, for all its shine,

no more than some fleeting minutes,

the glory all too quickly fading,

draining away before one's eyes

like some mocking fairy hoard,

leaving something grey and worthless

and as empty as a broken promise.

Seduction!

Nature practices and approves it.
