Requiescant In Pace.
May they rest in peace. God!
And what else might they be at
but resting and resting and resting
in peace, peace and more peace?
Was ever a sentiment more superfluous,
a gesture so blatantly vacuous,
amounting, some might say, to mockery,
wishing a body the very things not required,
having rest and peace in amounts unlimited,
guaranteed, indeed, for all eternity.
Self-satisfied ostentatious humbug!
If they could, and we know well they can't,
they'd haunt all such facile well-wishers
and happily never rest from doing so.
Peace! Thanks! Thanks for nothing!
