A Titled Lady.

Like many who are common and spiteful,

she's quick with the lofty tone,

used to put people in their place,

any place lower than her own.

For people are made to be humbled,

beneath her gorgon gaze to quail,

especially if anyway small,

especially if anyway frail.

Children must be kept in check,

their spirit broken at all cost:

this she states with great authority

and all the venom of a wasp.

Though apt to present a stern front,

nose up, lips tight, features grave and tense,

yet she'll have a good laugh when it suits,

and always at another's expense.

Yes, she likes a joke and a chuckle

and really loves a good sneer,

and then to turn all proper with:

'Hello, there's a lady here!'

And, indeed, there is a lady present.

So, none of your smirks or your snickers.

Sit up straight and respectful,

for it's Lady Nastyknickers.
