Abruptly.

An afternoon walk.

Abruptly, turning a corner,

a laburnum in full bloom

against a sombre sky,

somehow majestic and antique,

like a nicely aged masterpiece,

priceless, something special,

in an otherwise perfectly nice,

perfectly banal day.

A genuine moment,

not sought, just presented,

surprising the senses,

defying the jadedness,

the usual spoiled self

knowingly ... transcended?
